When your friend gets married, and asks you to be the photographer, a few things go through your mind. “Oh my goodness, what a honor, they want me to do it!!” Is one. “Oh sugar……they want me to do it…the pressure…oh the pressure!” is another. And when your friend is the award winning wedding florist Sam of Violets and Velvet, then it’s all a bit more scary. But hugely exciting and wonderful, to be a part of a great friends day and capture it for them really is the best. Oh, and to have a drink and enjoy the party too, that’s a real treat!
So Sam and Scott had a truly beautiful, relaxed, colourful party of a wedding. They married at Manuden church, in North Essex, close to their home in Bishops Stortford. Followed by a wonderful reception at the brand new Manuden village hall(though village hall seems to not come close to describing this amazing building!).
Sam wore a beautiful shimmering wedding dress by Alice Temperley and an incredible leaf details hair piece by Kelly Spence.
Beautiful paper lanterns in bright purples, blues and golds adorned the ceiling of the reception venue.
And of course stunning flowers by Sam herself covered the tables in a variety of beautiful and eclectic jugs and vases, making the tables come to life and look utterly amazing.
Golden animals had place names tied to them, continuing the quirky gold theme.
At the church an amazing floral runner was along both sides of the aisle, and of course Sam had an incredible bouquet which was breath taking.
The couples daughter was a wonderful flower girl and great fun throughout the day, even heckling her Dad during his speech! (She’s five by the way!) .
And so onto the reception at Sam and Scot’s incredible wedding at Manuden Village Hall on the Hertfordshire and Essex borders. The wonderful gold, purple, blue and red decorations included gorgeous paper lanterns hung from the ceiling, and incredible flowers by the bride herself, the very amazing Sam of Violets and Velvet.
Eclectic, individual vases of sumptuous floral arrangements adorned the long tables, and a beautiful gold themed table positively sagged under the weight of amazing cakes made by friends and family, from brownies the the beautiful naked wedding cake, it was all gorgeous. Guests had fizz and canapes on arrival at the village hall, with food supplied by the fabulous Hand Made Food. Then a delicious meal of pie and mash was served, followed by (lots of) helpings at the cake table! Wonderful speeches followed, with much laughter involved! The icing on the cake I’d certainly say (apart from the obvious magic of the wedding it’s self, and the people, and the venue, oh and the food, oh and the decoration……oh, you know what I mean!) was the Bishops Stortford Ukulele Society arriving, heading onto stage and doing a mind blowing set of covers! The bride and groom had their first dance to the band and everyone utterly loved it! From then on the party continued into the night, with dancing, laughing and a little bit of drinking! Oh and lots of cheese, pickle and pork pie! A wonderful day. So creative, beautiful, heartfelt, honest and true to the couple.
