Skincare Tips For That Gorgeous Bridal Glow

Make up: Samantha Eaton and Carolyn Deacock

Photography: Shoot it Momma Photography Every bride wants to be flawless and glowing on their wedding-day. As a make-up artist and Beauty Therapist, hearing a bride say "I haven't really got time for a facial it'll be fine you can just cover it up" is one of the hardest conversations to have. Of course a make-up artist with a kit full of concealer and colour corrector can hide just about anything. But I ask my Brides what about the getting ready photos? Think of those gorgeous Pinterest ideas you've saved, sitting in robes drinking champagne with your besties. One of the most fun parts of your wedding day is spending the morning getting glam with your bridesmaids and having a photographer there to capture every moment. If the thought of being photographed au natural leaves you in a cold sweat, it's probably time to start that pre wedding skin routine. Don't worry if it's only a few weeks away, I always say it's better to do something rather than nothing at all. Here are my 4 simple steps to make sure you're ready for those #nofilter moments.

1. Hydrate Staying hydrated is a great way to flush out toxins. I'm rather partial to a Salted Caramel Latte, but always add in a few extra glasses of water throughout the day. Set yourself a daily water goal, for some added motivation why not try one of these adorable infuser eater bottles from Accesorize. Add cucumber, lemon, lime, blueberries or raspberries and your skin will love you for it.

2. Get those zzzz's in Your body boosts blood flow to the skin while you snooze, which means you wake to a healthy glow. Skimp on sleep and your complexion can look dull and lifeless. Check out 'This Works' sleep range for some award winning sleep remedies.

.... hacks for tired eyes ... For the most part, dark under-eye circles are the result of lifestyle habits such as smoking, overindulging in alcohol, and not sleeping enough. If you're prone to tired eyes check out The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG this fab product retails at £5.80 and is packed full of goodies. EGCG can help reduce looks of puffiness and of dark circles in the eye contour. One of my personal favourite and quick ways to get rid of dark circles under your eyes naturally is to boil water and place two bags of chamomile tea in the water. After they've cooled completely and place them underneath your eyes for up to five minutes.

3. Invest in your skin Facials can be expensive and when you're planning a wedding it's often an expense we could do without, but making an upfront investment in professional facials may mean that you can wear less makeup on your wedding day. As a make-up artist I actively encourage regular facials in particular chemical peels and Skinbase microdermabrasion. These facials provide a level of deep cleansing and exfoliation that isn't achievable at home—with the added bonus of getting to regularly check in with a skin expert. Don't suffer in silence, beauty therapists love to make people feel more confident and we can advise on the best products for you. Factors like stress, hormones, and diet can affect your skin. Your therapist will be able to make the necessary tweaks to your treatments and at-home routine to help you reach your complexion goals. Trust me it works...

Five sessions of Skinbase facials resulted in no colour correction and just two light sprays of Airbase foundation on the wedding day!

4. Clean Eating You already know that superfoods like kale and blueberries do your body good, but did you know they can do wonders for your skin? What you eat directly affects your hormones and can inflame acne, eczema and psoriasis. Keep a food diary and note any changes to your skin good or bad. Boost your immunity with things like ginger, tumeric and Echinacea. For some quick and easy clean eating recipes check out the Body Coach, Joe Wicks
